Battunga Homestead: Property Photography in Watervale

A lot to take in at Battunga
Battunga isn’t short on character. I headed to Watervale for Ray White to photograph the homestead, with its red lounge, blue dining room, book-lined study and artwork just about everywhere you look.
Alongside the property photography, the job included drone images, video and floor plans. There was plenty to cover outside the main house too, with gardens, a separate dwelling and a studio.
Plenty of colour inside
Red walls, stained glass and an ornate red-and-gold bed. There was no shortage of detail here, but I still needed to show how the rooms fit together.
I photographed the wider spaces as well as the artwork and furniture, working through the lounge, dining room, study and bedrooms. The white kitchen and plant-filled sunroom were a change of pace, with the long veranda taking things back outside.

Out in the gardens
I worked through the stone courtyard, garden paths and outbuildings as well as the main house. There were more rooms in the separate brick dwelling, canvases and work tables in the studio, and a photo of the owners together on the front steps.
From above, the drone photographs show how the buildings sit among the gardens and surrounding countryside. The set includes daylight views and a twilight aerial.

Yes. Let me know what needs to be included, whether that’s a studio, shed, separate dwelling or the gardens. We’ll allow time for those areas and make sure they’re accessible on the day.
They’re useful for showing where the buildings sit, the access and the surrounding land. I use them alongside the ground-level photos, not instead of them. There’s more on when they help in my guide to drone photography for property.
Clear benches and floors, make the beds, open blinds and make sure I can get into the rooms we’re photographing. Outside, tidy the areas you want shown and move vehicles where practical. My preparation checklist covers the rest.
I pay attention to camera height, angles and perspective when I shoot and edit. The photos need to show the space clearly without making it look like a different room when someone walks in.
Yes. Floor plans were part of the Battunga job. Let me know which buildings and levels need to be included so I can allow for them when quoting and planning the shoot.
They can be useful for showing a different side of the exterior, particularly with the lights on. We’ll need to plan around the timing, access and weather. I’d still include daylight photos to show the property and grounds clearly.
