This North Adelaide medical team had a problem: their website looked like a time capsule. Several new hires weren’t featured. One retired staff member was still front and centre. And the group photo? Let’s just say it had seen better days.
The solution? A full refresh of their staff headshots — done entirely on-site, with a portable studio setup and just enough flexibility to herd a team of busy doctors and nurses without disrupting the clinic.

When the practice manager first got in touch, the brief was clear. They needed updated headshots and team photos for their North Adelaide specialist clinic, which had recently welcomed multiple new doctors and nurses — while also farewelling a few long-timers.
The team included:
Seven doctors across various surgical specialties
Multiple clinical and administrative staff
A web developer working behind the scenes to relaunch the practice’s site before an international trip
The catch? Schedules were all over the place. Between surgery lists, patient consults, and annual leave, getting everyone together at the same time wasn’t going to happen.
To avoid pulling staff away from clinical duties, I brought a full mobile studio setup directly to their consulting rooms at Lister House. This included:
Compact lighting and modifiers tailored for small office spaces
A neutral backdrop to suit their updated brand colours
Soft lighting to flatter all skin tones without harsh shadows
Sessions were split across two dates: a weekday afternoon and a Saturday morning — with a third mini session added later to catch up with two team members who were unavailable due to illness and leave.

One of the biggest challenges in multi-day headshot jobs is keeping the lighting, framing, and editing uniform — especially when photos are destined for a clean and clinical website like this one.
Here’s what helped keep it all locked in:
Precise lighting measurements were saved between sessions
Camera height, distance, and lens selection were logged and replicated
Neutral editing settings applied across the board, with light retouching (stray hair removal, skin tone balancing, and background cleanup)
Result? Whether the staff member was photographed in May or July, the final headshots look like they were all taken on the same day.
