One Planet Market's Autumn Harvest event brought the Payneham Community Centre precinct to life with market stalls, workshops, kids activities, a Repair Cafe, live music, local food, and a very practical community feel.
The job was to photograph the whole event without making it feel like a production. That meant moving through indoor and outdoor spaces, catching useful wide shots, stallholder details, candid interactions, workshop activity, and the small human moments that give a community event its pulse.

The requested coverage was straightforward: show the general market atmosphere, stalls and visitors, workshops, kids activities, the Repair Cafe, and wide shots across the indoor and outdoor spaces.
That kind of brief works best when the photography is useful first. Organisers need images that can support future event promotion, social posts, grant or community reporting, volunteer recognition, and sponsor/stakeholder updates. Pretty photos are nice. Photos that explain the event quickly are better.
One Planet Market sits under Sustainable Communities SA, so the coverage also needed to reflect the sustainability and local-community angle without turning every photo into a posed brochure moment.
The event ran across outdoor stalls, shaded lawn areas, indoor activity rooms, workshop spaces, food vendors, music, and family-friendly zones.
That mix is useful visually, but it needs a bit of discipline. Wide frames give context, medium frames show how people move through the market, and closer details show what stallholders, presenters, volunteers, and visitors are actually doing.
If you are running a market, fundraiser, workshop day, open day or community program, the useful photos are the ones that show what happened, who came, and why it mattered.

The best event galleries usually come from following the energy, not just the run sheet.
For this project, that meant switching between the market lanes, plant and produce stalls, information tables, repair activity, food vendors, musicians, kids activities, animal encounters, and the quieter indoor moments. The gallery needed to feel like one event, not a set of disconnected snapshots.
Community events need images that make people recognise the experience. A stallholder answering a question, a volunteer helping at an information table, kids meeting animals, people repairing items, and small workshop interactions all do more work than a generic crowd photo.
The final coverage gives One Planet Market a practical image bank for future Autumn Harvest promotions and broader market communications.
