This 21st in the National Wine Centre’s Vines Room was a focused booking: portraits, a few family and friendship groups, cake cutting and speeches. I had an hour to cover those moments and the candid reactions around them.

The family and I planned the key times before the party. That kept the portraits and group photographs moving while leaving room for the cake and speeches.

The room had moody party lighting. I used additional light for clear faces while keeping some of that atmosphere in the photographs.

Make a short list of family and friendship groups, and have someone help gather them. That leaves more time for the rest of the party.

Can you work with the Vines Room’s darker party lighting?

This job used additional lighting for the portraits and groups while keeping the room’s atmosphere visible. Share the planned setup and timing before the event.

Should cake and speeches be on the run sheet?

Yes. Give their expected times and any other moments you do not want missed. The booked window should cover those parts of the evening.
